How long do I use it for?

For best results, use an ON/OFF approach - use for a month, then rest skin for a month.

My skin tingles, is this normal?

You may experience a tingling effect, if so use on alternate days and make sure you use a moisturiser after the exfoliator. You can also rinse the exfoliator off after about 1 minute to minimise tingling. If irritation or redness occurs, stop using.

Do I need sun protection?

Yes, use sun protection as the serum may make your newly resurfaced skin more sensitive to sun exposure.

advanced skin perfecting exfoliator

I have been using this exfoliator for the last week and must say I'm very impressed with it, after just 7 days! The product is a clear gel that comes in a tube that dispenses through a pump at the end, and with no need to wash it off, makes applying it before your moisturiser a breeze. I used this product on both my face and neck, but I found that I didn't need to use more than 2 pumps to cover the whole area as it’s quite thick and rich and thus spreads very easily and effortlessly over the whole area, absorbing very well and giving it that ‘tight’ clean feeling.

When I first applied it, it had a burning like sensation especially in areas that were extremely dry and scaly, around the creases of the nose and my chin, and also on cheeks where I have large pores, but the sensation went very quickly. It does state on the back of the tube to rinse off after 1 minute if irritation occurs, but before I had time to think I should try washing this off, the sensation was completely gone. I found that by the 2nd day the burning sensation was a lot less and by day 3 it was more of a tingling sensation, and by day 5 had completely gone and my skin didn’t feel anything when applying.

The first day I used this exfoliator I woke up to rather soft, smooth and fresh feeling skin, and it worked so well that even my roommate commented on how nice and fresh my skin looked, so I was quite pleased to have someone else notice a difference also. I used this gel during PMS (when my skin is most vulnerable to hormonal changes) and in turn I noticed that it has made my usual PMS breakouts less aggressive, and my skin visibly less red. Having such a fair complexion my pigmentation and skin discolouration is very noticeable so it was a pleasure to see that my skin was not only more soft and smooth in appearance and touch but also more even in overall colour after just 7 days of use and looking lighter and brighter. I have also noticed that the lines on my neck and around my mouth and the fine lines under the eye area are a little less defined as a result also. 


With these fantastic results already, this is definitely a product that I will continue to be using and buying in the future. I got this product in my turquoise booty and so a very big thank you to BH for putting me onto it as it’s definitely a staple in my beauty regime from now on. :) 

Exfoliation Perfection 100%

On first application this clear, scent-less, gel like glycolic facial peel felt soft and smooth as I applied 1-2 pumps worth onto my cleansed face and neck using a gentle circular motion concentrating on problem areas. It tingled my face slightly like ants walking across your skin but this disappeared after a few seconds and was not as noticeable on further applications. It absorbed into skin leaving no residue, just a smooth, soft, silky texture. I have used this ritually for 7 nights on, and then rested skin without it for 7 nights following this regime for almost 4 weeks now and am impressed with my results. Months later I now find that I can use it more sporadically when my skin feels like it's in need of exfoliation and still achieve the same great results. My sensitive skin responded well to this and surprisingly wasn't overtly red or irritated, in fact it exfoliated my skin better and more gently than any mechanical exfoliators that I have tried and left my skin feeling fresher from first use! My skin was dull as I'd been ill at the time I began using this product and it immediately left my skin appearing healthier and revived. It reduced my static lines dramatically, and my dynamic expression lines in areas like my forehead, furrow between the eyes and around the mouth have also decreased in only 3-4weeks of use. Uneven pigmentation has also lessened while my overall skin brightness has become more radiant and luminous, as well as smoother in texture. It has even lessened and almost removed a small milia spot and I found that it has kept the odd acne spot away too. I follow this product with the Advanced Contour Firming Gel and Advanced Collagen Lift Moisturiser every night to nourish and repair my skin and wear a sunscreen daily to also help protect my skin. The fact that it's dispensed via pump from a convenient 20ml tube and doesn't need to be washed off made this quick and efficient to use, as well as practical to continue using while traveling. Using this with a less is more approach my skin has gained wonderful clarity. This has had no adverse effects for me but has improved my skin's overall texture and tone, It's the first night-time peel that I've found that exfoliates my skin and really works wonders. I plan to buy this again and keep up its use as it's a skin Savior that my skin's Loving!

Advanced Skin Perfecting Exfoliator

This exfoliator is a creamy gel substance that comes in a compact pump style tube. I have been using it on a nightly basis, in combination with the other products in this range. One pump is sufficient to disperse enough serum to work onto my whole face and neck. Initially, upon application, my face started feeling tingly, giving me the impression that it was working effectively. It is almost a stinging sensation but I find it to be bearable, and it does subside after a few moments. The gel is lightweight and absorbs quickly, although it tends to leave a slightly sticky, tacky residue behind for a short time, which disappears after it has completely dried. Immediately after using the serum, my sensitive skin turns a shade of bright red, thankfully, this common side effect has dispersed by the morning leaving my complexion visually radiant and looking healthy. It is advisable to follow the instructions as a guideline and use only at night; after all, you wouldn’t want to be sporting a tomato face if you happen to experience any adverse reactions during the day. For a month I trialed this exfoliator nightly and I am extremely impressed with the overall appearance of my complexion. It has polished away any dullness by refining the texture and improving my skin tone in general, leaving it feeling incredibly smooth and soft as silk to touch. My skin is now firm and plump with a restored youthful radiance. I have also noticed less congestion because the serum penetrates into the pores, which has resulted in fewer breakouts. This could also be contributed to how balanced my skin has become with far less oil production, yet it is still totally hydrated. The only downfall for me is the size of the tube; it is tiny, generating the need to replace it more often than other products in my skincare regime. However, I will not let that one small facet stand in the way of giving this perfecting treatment the high rating it truly deserves. This product effectively lives up to its claim of smoothing and refining skin and it is just as good if not better, than other expensive exfoliators sold on the market today. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting quality that delivers without breaking the bank.

Peely Good!

I have been trialing this nightly (as per instructions - 1 week, 1 week off) for about 3 or so weeks. After cleansing I applied 1 to 1 and a half pumps of the exfoliator. On application my (dry/sensitive) skin felt a burning / tingling sensation - it does recommend rinsing off after a minute if irritation occurs. The burning sensation only lasted a few seconds so I didn't rinse off, but I did find over the time I have used this that the more often I have used it the more it is irritating me. And as I have never used a glycolic peel before I'm not too sure if this is normal (I'm assuming it is?) I really like using it though - much less fuss than using traditional exfoliating scrubs. My skin has been smooth, firm and brighter since using the Extreme Makeover system - and I've just had a baby and I have had many people comment on how good I look - even though I've had little sleep the last few weeks my skin doesn't look fatigued at all. 
I think the price is good for the package size, ease of use and the good results - highly recommended.

This exfoliator really works

I have been trailing this exfoliator for the last few weeks together with the John Plunkett contour gel and collagen moisturiser. I have to say; of all 3 products this is the one, which has made the biggest difference to my skin. I used this every night for a week then took one week's break, then used it again for a almost a week. The days when I used it my skin felt noticeably smoother, the dead skin cells just didn’t seem to accumulate as they normally do one day after any other exfoliation. My skin felt really smooth, I even think some bumps and pimples disappeared or were prevented. I didn't notice much difference to wrinkles, but these are mainly around my eyes where I didn't use this product. I didn't experience a stinging on application, but after using it for a week my skin did feel a little sensitive as though the upper layers were thinner (well I guess that's what exfoliation is all about). I felt I really needed the one-week break from using this product. Overall, I think it's a really effective exfoliator, but as mentioned on the packaging, needs to be used in moderation and the skin needs a break from it periodically. The applicator pump is convenient. I would buy this product again.

Advanced Skin Perfecting Exfoliator

This exfoliating gel is a creamy gel that comes in a pump style tube. I have been using it every night following the firming gel in this range. I only need one pump to disperse enough product to use on my whole face and neck. It instantly starts tingling on my skin, so that I know it is working. It is almost a stinging sensation but I find it is bearable, and it settles after a few minutes. It absorbs quickly but is slightly sticky. It also makes my sensitive skin turn bright red after using, although this has always settled by the morning. Definitely stick to the instructions and use only at night. After using this gel nightly for a month, I am extremely impressed with the texture of my skin. It is incredibly smooth and soft with a brighter appearance. I have also noticed less congestion that has resulted in fewer breakouts. The only downfall for me is the size of the tube, it is tiny, and I find that it would need to be replaced more often than others in my skincare regime. This is a fantastic exfoliating product that is just as good if not better, than other expensive exfoliators sold on the market today, I would highly recommend it.

A No Fuss Exfoliator That Works While You Sleep

The skin Perfecting Exfoliator is a clearer white gel that comes in a 20ml pump form. On my first application it stung my skin that settled down within a couple of minutes. It only ever stung on two other occasions. It wasn’t painful and didn’t irritate or redden my skin nor happen again other then those three times in the over 3 weeks I have been using this product so it wasn’t anything to be concerned about. It was probably my skin getting used to a different exfoliator.

I will start with the positives with this product first. I love the convenience of this exfoliator as you don’t have to rinse it off which speeds up my beauty routine at night. Not only does it exfoliate the skin it also nourishes it and moisturises it. The exfoliator is only to be used at night as it does its magic at night by ridding your dead skin cells while you sleep and I wake up with soft and smooth skin the morning after. I accidentally applied it once in the morning and my skin was peeling and ‘balling’ during the day so it is important to only apply at night.

I do have some cons with this product. Firstly when I apply my dry cleanser and toner at night, followed with the exfoliator and the accompanying contour firming gel and then moisturiser my skin can sometimes feel heavy with product. I also have this sensation that my skin isn‘t properly exfoliated. My other con is some days my skin can still peel during the day, which is not a good look.

Not for the Faint Hearted

Holy melt those dead skin cells - and a few new ones batman! This gel is like the bad boy vigilante of exfoliation, definitely not for the faint hearted. 
Immediately upon application my skin tingled then stung a little, i moved past this and soldiered on. After 1 week of using this every night followed by the contour gel and moisturizer i can't even say how bright and clear my skin looks. Pigmentation is reduced, ruddiness is gone, texture is more even and my friends have given me great compliments, but......... there is always a but, sensitivity has sky rocketed. 
This is probably the one product i can say has given me immediate results on pigmentation and texture and i love it but i would maybe suggest trying it only every 2nd or 3rd night for 2 weeks then having a little break as I’ve had some pretty severe redness and itching come up on my neck, side of nose, chin and forehead. Also, keep it way way way away from your eye area as the 'fumes' i guess you'd call them tend to sting the eyes a little too, so in saying that, also make sure that before you apply your eye cream WASH YOUR HANDS of any product. 
The gel is presented in a tube with a pump for perfect dosage and no wastage and one pump does my whole face, neck and décolletage. The gel smoothes over easily and is followed by the contour gel and moisturizer leaving my skin looking relaxed before bed and absolutely luminous in the morning. I would not recommend this product for anyone with sensitive skin or anyone younger than 30, your skin just doesn't need it. For those of us over 30 wanting to tackle the first signs of ageing though, I’d say definitely try this, it delivers on it's claims and is hands down the most effective product I’ve tried for the specific concerns of pigmentation, texture and lines.

Very Exciting Product! It works!

A little goes a long way with this product. At first, I felt the 'tingle' effect of it on my face but it didn't hurt - it was just a gentle, but obvious, tingle. As I continue to use it, I find the tingles subside each time I apply it and as soon as I apply the recommended John Plunkett Firming Gel, my skin stops tingling straight away anyhow. This product is recommended to use for a few days and then to stop using it for a few days (at weekly intervals at night only); I suppose this is to give the skin a break from the glycolic acid which is doing the great exfoliating work.

At the intervals when I did stop using this product, I found I missed it's incredible SOFTENING effect on my skin!! I love it when I get to use it again because it softens my skin amazingly - in other words ladies, this stuff works!!

My skin glows and looks healthy when I use this and I've noticed it's more recent effects on reducing my pigmentation and a couple of 'age-spots'. Very exciting product to me because it's really doing a great job - I've been using a sunscreen during the day (as always) to protect my 'new' skin.

I definitely intend to keep using this highly effective product - can't wait to see the continued results! It's a great Aussie product and a great Aussie price!

Exfoliator

This is an interesting product. You can feel it working straight away. It leaves a stinging, tingling feeling on your skin, something you have to get use to. It is recommended only to use at night. I did develop a small area of redness on my forehead, but this settled day by the next day, hence the night use. It is easily applied, with a pump pack. It is not designed for continual use, week on, then week off. I have noticed with the combined use of this product, the firming gel and moisturiser from the same range, that my skin is looking brighter and younger, fine lines filling out and skin is even. Would continue to purchase from this range. Big plus as it is Australian made.

Skin perfecting exfoliation

What a fantastic dispensary pump system, makes it really easy to use. 
The exfoliation is so smooth and comfortable on my skin. It caused no breakouts or irritation. After using for a few uses it feels like it is sloughing off the dead skin cells and shrinking/closing my pores a little. Just smooth, more refined, clear skin.
